Morristown Student Recognized For Community Service
The Morristown-Beard School senior makes and delivers over 100 meals a month to senior citizens experiencing food-insecurity.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A Morristown-Beard School senior was recognized Tuesday by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards for his work helping feed senior citizens facing food insecurity.
Oliver Simon, 18, was named a distinguished finalist among New Jersey's top youth volunteers of 2020.
Simon co-founded his organization, "Extra Helpings Delivered," and now helps make and deliver more than 100 meals a month to citizens in need in Morris County. He also coordinates recruiting and training volunteers and runs social media accounts for the organization.

Simon is one of eight New Jersey volunteers named among the 'Top Youth Volunteers Of 2020.' The two top volunteers, 17-year-old Isobel Costello of Andover and 13-year-old Darius Brown of Newark, respectively, will each receive $1,000, a silver medal, and a trip to Washington, D.C., to meet other state honorees and attend recognition events.
During the trip, 10 youth volunteers from across the country will be named America's top youth volunteers of 2020 and will receive additional $5,000 scholarships.
