Morristown Teen Passes Away After Long Brain Cancer Battle

MORRISTOWN, NJ — After a long battle with brain cancer, Morristown teen Hedda Sivertsson passed away at home on March 2. She was 15.

"Our beautiful daughter passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 2nd, 2018. We love her and miss her endlessly," her mother, Camilla Sivertsson shared on Facebook.

Sivertsson was diagnosed with brain cancer in Sept. 2015, when she was 12-years-old. She entered into a brief remission the next year, only for the tumor to reoccur.

According to an obituary, provided by Bailey Funeral Home:

Hedda fought a brave battle with brain cancer and she often spent time with other patients and families to offer them comfort and to help them deal with their illness. Prior to the onset of her illness and at young age, she visited lonely elderly at a local nursing home to comfort them. Hedda also cared for the environment and animals and many wounded animals were cared for and rescued by her. Hedda was full of life and love and she brought smiles to the faces of the many whose lives she touched.

Hedda was a young girl of many passions and she played rugby, soccer, and lacrosse but most of all she loved to ski with her friends of the Mountain Creek race team.

She is survived by her parents, Per and Camilla, siblings William and Elva, god parents, four grandparents, great grandparents, uncles in Sweden, an au pair and two dogs.

A memorial will be held at Liquid Church (299 Webro Road, Parsippany) on March 10 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. A second memorial will be held in Sweden at a later date.
