PBS Show To Feature Morris Museum, Local Revolutionary War Sites

A "Travels With Darley" episode, steeped in local history, will air next month on New Jersey PBS. There's a special preview this weekend.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morris County's Colonial history, and New Jersey's place in the American Revolution, are featured in a three-part television series about “Revolutionary Road Trips” around the U.S.

The PBS series "Travels with Darley" will spotlight key places in the Garden State where famous figures visited, as well as significant battlefields, parks, museums, and encampment sites. The New Jersey-focused episodes air in March, with a special preview at the Morris Museum.

Host Darley Newman visited multiple sites in Morristown with connections to the Revolution — including the Morris Museum, the Ford Mansion and Jockey Hollow, the Washington’s Headquarters Museum, the Schuyler Hamilton House, the Mayo Performing Arts Center, and the Morristown Green.

She also raises a glass with Glenbrook Brewery co-owner Darren Cregan and stops by the Grain House Restaurant, located in the place where George Washington stored grains for his troops. The episode ends with a toast at The Black Horse Pub and Tavern in Mendham.

The episode featuring Morris County (and Monmouth Battlefield) will air on NJ PBS in primetime on Wednesday, March 13 at 8:30 p.m. and will repeat at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 24.

There is a special (sold-out) preview on Feb. 18 at the Morris Museum, where host Darley Newman will go behind-the-scenes on the making of the series with Tom Loughman, Executive Director of the Morris Museum, and Craig Schlosser, President & CEO of the Morris County Economic Development Alliance and Morris County Tourism Bureau.
