Pedestrian Hit, Killed By NJ Transit Train Near Morristown Station

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A pedestrian died after being hit by a NJ Transit train near the Morristown station on Wednesday night.

On Jan. 31, at around 6:10 p.m., Morris & Essex Line train 6666 struck and fatally injured a pedestrian just west of Morristown station, transit officials said.

The pedestrian has not yet been identified.

The train had left Dover at 5:50 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station in New York at 7:14 p.m.

There were no injuries reported to the about 30 customers or crew on board.

Morris & Essex line rail service was temporarily suspended in both directions between Dover and Summit but has since resumed.

New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.
