Pricing Changes Coming To Morris Township Pickleball Courts
Non-residents will have to pay an additional fee in order to play pickleball at the Ginty Field courts, according to a new ordinance.
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Ginty Field Pickleball Courts have become extremely popular among residents of the township and other nearby communities. Because of this growing popularity, there will be changes to the current court fees.
The Morris Township Committee recently passed an ordinance that amends the current township code in order to adjust the fee for playing at the courts.
According to the new ordinance, Morris Township industrial, commercial, retail and nonprofit establishments or groups using the courts or sponsoring a team must pay a use fee of $60 per three-hour event and a use fee of $300 for up to 17 three-hour events in a continuous 120-day period.

The fee, however, increases for non-residents.
Non-Morris-Township industrial, commercial, retail, or nonprofit establishments or groups using a facility or sponsoring a team must pay a use fee of $100 per three-hour event and a use fee of $500 for up to 17 three-hour events in a continuous 120-day period.

Morris Township residents are now also able to reserve a facility at a township park for a single-day family event of up to 50 people for a fee of $25 for a five-hour permit period.
"Other towns are building their own pickleball courts, but we have six in one spot, and they are top-notch, so people are going to come from out of town to play on our courts. We don't want to discourage people, but we do want to make sure that we give our residents an opportunity to play at the times that they want to play," Committee member Bud Ravitz said.
Additionally, the local Parks and Recreation Department has updated the court's rules and regulations for games in 2023. This overhaul was in part prompted by reports of overcrowding and inappropriate player behavior at the courts, Morris Township Mayor Mark Gyorfy said.
Gyorfy previously stated that the local parks and recreation department and Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee would establish a registration system for the 2023 season based on feedback from resident pickleball players.
Any person wishing to use a Township Pickleball Court must first register and obtain an annual pickleball pass, or be a registered player's guest with a valid guest pass.
The fees for an annual pickleball pass are as follows:
- Resident Fee: $25
- Non-Resident Fee: $175
