Nearly 50 businesses are participating in the 2013 Morristown Restaurant Week, presented through Sunday by Morristown Partnership with its partners The Star Ledger, Constellation Wines and Double Cross Vodka.

Patch spoke with one of the participants, Ilya Taleysnik, Sushi Lounge Morristown Manager

We opened for business in March of 2004. We are locally/privately owned by three partners all New Jersey born and raised.

We offer a full service restaurant, bar & lounge specializing in sushi, Japanese fusion cuisine, specialty cocktails, wines, beers, sakes, and more. Our products are of the highest quality

Why did you decide to open your business in Morristown?

We decided to open a Morristown location after four successful years at our flagship location in Hoboken, NJ, starting in December 2000. Morristown is the second busiest city in Northern New Jersey after Hoboken so expanding into that market was the most logical choice at the time.

How did you get your start? 

We got our start in Hoboken in December 2000. Two lifelong friends and a third business partner joined forces to open an upscale sushi restaurant & lounge featuring the highest quality products, ambient atmosphere, integration with DJ culture, with a very chic look/feel. We opened in the heart of downtown Hoboken on Hudson Street and have been there since while adding a Morristown location in March 2004 and a Totowa location in June 2007.

What is your mission/goal as a Morristown business owner?

Our mission and goal has been and will continue to be the best sushi restaurants in New Jersey. We have now enjoyed over 12 years of success with three locations. Our Morristown location is very healthy and vibrant with a great clientele in a great city. We are expanding our take-out and delivery services with online ordering integration. Our chefs are always evolving our menus to provide new and exciting products to our guests. Our managers are always evolving our drink menus to offer the best in beverages. We will never settle with what we have. We always want more. We believe anyone who visits our restaurants on a consistent basis will attest to how ever-changing our product offerings are while not compromising the general idea and theme that is Sushi Lounge. We are in competition with no one but ourselves and we will continue to challenge ourselves in the years to come to make sure everyone in the tri-state area knows about Sushi Lounge.
