Solar-Powered Meters, Rate Hikes Hit Morristown Parking Spots
More than 400 new machines being installed this week.

One of Morristown’s most notable landmarks received a facelift Tuesday in addition to some other changes.

Hundreds of the town’s parking meters are now solar-powered and rates have increased for the first time since 1998.

The Morristown Parking Authority installed the 430 new meters Tuesday, Oct. 20 that offer traditional payment of coins, but also allows customers to use debit or credit cards.
In addition to the new meters, prices have gone up for the downtown parking spots, now costing $1 per hour. Cost at older meters outside the business district will remain $0.75 per hour.

The Parking Authority said it will take up to a week to install all the new meters.
