Report: More MHS Students College-Ready Than NJ Average

Morristown High School, however, unranked in U.S. News & World Report "Best High Schools" rankings.

U.S. News & World Report has released its Best High Schools in New Jersey rankings and , while unranked in the annual study, placed above the state average for college readiness.

With a student population of 1,496, 387 students are in ninth grade, 382 in 10th, 359 in 11th, and 359 in 12th grade. The student body makeup is 53 percent male and 47 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 39 percent, according to U.S. News' findings. The school employs 108 full-time teachers. 

Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® coursework and exams. The AP® participation rate at MHS is 28.3 percent. U.S News uses the following academic indicators when compiling its list, the numbers that follow are specific to MHS:

U.S. News calculates these values based on student performance on state exit exams and internationally available exams on college-level coursework (AP®/IB exams).

Only two New Jersey high schools made the national Top 20, High Technology High School in Middletown, at No. 10, and Biotechnology High School in Freehold, at No. 17. Both schools are located in Monmouth County.
