Trump Tweets More Support For Webber In NJ-11
Trump has thrown his weight behind Republican Jay Webber, who is running against Democrat Mikie Sherrill In NJs 11th Congressional district.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — President Donald Trump has continued to show his support for Republican Jay Webber, who is running for Congress in New Jersey's 11th District.
"Jay Webber of New Jersey, running for Congress, is doing a great job against a person who is looking to raise Taxes substantially. Jay wants big Tax Cuts and Changes. A Harvard graduate and father of seven, Jay will be great for New Jersey and get the job done-and I will help!" Trump wrote Tuesday morning.
This is the second time Trump has tweeted in support of Webber, following an initial endorsement tweet. He is also participating in a D.C.-area fundraiser in support of the New Jersey assemblyman.

"Thank you @realDonaldTrump! I am looking forward to working with you to lower taxes, strengthen our economy and make #NJ11 better for everyone," Webber said in a reply to the tweet.
Democrat Mikie Sherrill has spoken out against President Trump's endorsement, saying it exemplifies Webber's partisanship.

"Assemblyman Webber was Governor Christie's man in Trenton, and he will be President Trump's man in Washington. We know from his record that he consistently puts his own ideology ahead of those he represents. We've seen it time and time again with his vocal support for the tax hike bill, his vote against equal pay for equal work, and his repeated votes against women's reproductive health. We need new leadership in Washington, and Assemblyman Webber would simply be more of the same," Sherrill said in a statement.

It's not clear if Trump's involvement will help or hurt the Webber campaign. Twenty-eight percent of voters say Trump's endorsement makes them less likely to support Webber, while only 11 percent say it makes them more likely, a recent Monmouth University poll found.
Sherrill has also garnered some high-profile endorsements recently, including from former Vice President Joe Biden.
This is the first time in over two decades that the race for New Jersey's 11th district has been truly competitive. Retiring Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen has held the seat since 1995, and oftentimes faced no serious challengers. Before that, another Republican held the seat since the mid-1980s.
This race is being closely watched by the national political scene because it's one of two New Jersey districts with the serious chance of flipping (the other being NJ-02). The Democratic party is hoping to see a lot of these flips nationwide to gain control of the House.
