Weather Service Confirms Tornado Touched Down In Morris County

According to the National Weather Service, an EF-0 tornado touched down in Rockaway Township around 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

MORRS COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service office in Mount Holly determined that a tornado touched down in Morris County early Thursday morning.

The agency conducted a storm survey of the area following severe storms that moved through a central portion of the county Wednesday night and early Thursday morning,

According to the National Weather Service, an EF-0 tornado touched down in Rockaway Township (Morris County) around 2:30 a.m.

A tornado warning remained in effect for the area until around 3 a.m.

Wind gust speeds of an EF-0 tornado range from 65-85 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
