Woman, 74, Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Morris County
Officials said the woman was hit by a driver while walking outside of a marked crosswalk, and the collision resulted in fatal injuries.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A woman died Monday evening after being hit by a car in Dover when she was trying to cross the street, police said.
The crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Prospect Street, near the Garden Savings Federal Credit Union, when officers and firefighters responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.
Authorities have identified the pedestrian as a 74-year-old woman from Dover, though her name is being withheld until her family has been notified, police said.

Upon arrival, first responders rushed the woman to St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, where she was later pronounced dead, Police Chief Jonathan Delaney confirmed on social media.
The crash remains under investigation, but initial reports suggest the woman was crossing mid-block, outside of a marked crosswalk, when she was struck.

Chief Delaney also confirmed that two vehicles were involved. The first car struck the woman and was then rear-ended by another vehicle. Both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators.
"Our deepest sympathies go out to the victim's family and all that were involved in this crash," Delaney said.
