Black-Owned, ‘Asian-Inspired’ Restaurant Is Opening In Newark

Tinjune Downtown's grand opening takes place on Wednesday. The menu includes "signature dim sum," lobster satay and fried cheesecake.

NEWARK, NJ — A Black-owned, “Asian-inspired” restaurant is getting ready to celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday in Newark.

Tinjune Downtown will officially open its doors at 494 Broad Street on Sept. 13 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m.

Signature dishes at the restaurant include duck dim sum, tomahawk steak, lobster bao buns, rum bread pudding and fried cheesecake, among other tantalizing items. Learn more here.

Tinjune Downtown’s partner and visionary, Tami Brown, said it’s “thrilling” to bring the new eatery to New Jersey’s largest city.

“This restaurant was born out of my desire to bring a cuisine that can be enjoyed by all palettes, and with Tinjune Downtown, we’re doing just that,” Brown said, also crediting her “dedicated staff” and business partner, Modia Butler.

According to its website, the restaurant will be open from 5 to 11 p.m. on Tuesday to Thursday, from 5 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and from noon to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
