Defamation Lawsuit Settled After Prostitution Arrests In Newark: Report
A New Jersey businessman alleged that police falsely portrayed him as a "john" by including his photo alongside other "mugshots."
NEWARK, NJ — A defamation lawsuit involving a prostitution sweep in Newark and a local businessman has been settled, a report says.
The Newark City Council agreed to pay $350,000 to Mohammed Ibrahim, of Boonton, at their meting on Aug. 6, according to Transparency NJ.
Ibrahim alleged that police falsely portrayed him as one of 13 men arrested in the 2019 sweep by including his driver’s license photo alongside the other defendants’ mugshots – although he wasn’t one of the “johns” arrested that day.
