Dolphins Pick Newark’s Mohamed Kamara In 2024 NFL Draft

NEWARK, NJ — Mohamed Kamara left his mark on the football field while playing at Central High School in Newark. Now, he’s headed to the NFL.
Last weekend, the Miami Dolphins selected Kamara as the 158th pick in the NFL draft, a milestone career achievement for the former Brick City star, who earned the recognition of 2nd team All-State while at Central High.
Kamara’s career continued to rise after high school graduation when he committed to Colorado State University (CSU) as a three-star recruit. At CSU, he exceeded expectations, earning the title of “Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year.”

Kamara also hit the books while in college, earning a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies from Colorado State University, where he is currently enrolled in a master’s degree program.
The former Newark high school star got a big cheer from his alma mater after his selection on Saturday.

“We are ecstatic to witness Mohamed Kamara's ascent in his football career,” principal Terri Mitchell said.
“As a distinguished alumnus of Central High School, Mohamed has brought immense pride to our school community through his outstanding achievements both on and off the field,” Mitchell added. “We are confident that his stellar performance will continue to illuminate the NFL, leaving an enduring impact on the league.”
Kamara also has another fan in Superintendent Roger Leόn, who said the draft selection shows that anything is possible with “hard work, perseverance and a steadfast belief in oneself.”
“We extend our sincerest congratulations to this remarkable achievement and to send him our warmest wishes for a prosperous career in the NFL,” Leόn said.
