E-Bike Rider Shoots At Another Bicycle Rider In Newark, Police Say
Officers saw a man on an electric bike fire a gun at another e-bike rider in Essex County. Police are searching for the alleged shooter.
NEWARK, NJ — Police are searching for an e-bike rider who allegedly shot at another e-bike rider in Newark, authorities announced Friday.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the shooting took place on June 3. Here’s what happened, authorities said:
“At approximately 5:11 p.m., Newark police were alerted to a shooting in progress by members of the Elizabeth Police Department, who were working at Ludlow Street and Van Vechten Street. The Elizabeth police officers observed the suspect discharge a firearm while riding an electric bike and aiming at a male victim, who fled – also on an electric bike – without being struck by gunfire.”

Newark police released surveillance photos of the alleged shooter (see below). He was wearing a red hat and a hunter-green hooded sweater, and was riding a black e-bike.
