Krauszer's Coming to Downtown

The mixed residential-retail area being developed near the Prudential Center is getting another addition: a Krauzser’s convenience grocery store.

“The signing of Krauszer’s represents both a practical and milestone success for the RockPlaza Lofts development,” said Marc E. Berson, chairman of Fidelco Realty Group, one of the developers, with the Hanini Group,  of the RockPlaza Lofts, which includes Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and more than 80 loft apartments.

RockPlaza Lofts is also home to a Rita’s Italian Ice, FASTSIGN, a sign and graphics company, and the offices of the Newark Downtown District, a special improvement district that encompasses a swathe of the city from I-280 to city hall on Broad Street and east to the Passaic River.

“From a practical standpoint, Krauszer’s Food Stores provides residents with a walkable, convenient place in the neighborhood for their food and grocery needs.  Symbolically, Krauszer’s adds to the diversity of retailers, bringing RockPlaza Lofts another step closer to delivering upon the ambitious goals the development set when it was conceived,” Berson added.

Krauszer’s has locations throughout the state but its RockPlaza Lofts store, slated to open by the fall, is its first in Newark. More stores are planned elsewhere in the city, Fidelco and Hanini said.
