La Casa de Don Pedro Taking Part in 'Giving Tuesday'

Participants will be urged to help the needy after 'Black Friday'

La Casa de Don Pedro in Newark is joining thousands of other organizations around the world for “#GivingTuesday” Dec. 3.

Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday inspires people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities and give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support. La Casa’s 2013 #Giving Tuesday campaign is from Dec. 3 to 6 with goals to raise $10,000 to support the organizations programs and services, fulfill holiday toy wishes for 1,000 children, provide holiday dinners for 500 families in need and fulfill wishes for the organizations’ community centers.

“After the ‘Black Friday’ and ‘Cyber Monday’ spending sprees, #Giving Tuesday will offer people the opportunity give back, and show that the holiday season isn’t just about consumerism.” said Ray Ocasio, Executive Director of La Casa de Don Pedro.

Those interested in joining La Casa’s #GivingTuesday initiative can choose to a make monetary contribution, organize a fundraiser, become a La Casa Ambassador, make a direct gift to La Casa’s holiday wish list, or contribute to the holiday food and toy drive.
