NJ Man Strangles Girlfriend, Dumps Body Near Golf Course, Prosecutor Says
The man also sent texts from the dead woman's phone to make it look like she was alive, according to officials.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Police have arrested a man who is said to be responsible for the death of a woman whose body was found near a Livingston golf course earlier this month, prosecutors say.
Andres Calvachi-Paz, 35, of Newark, was arrested on Wednesday after an investigation led police to believe he killed his girlfriend, Dayana Chisaguano Maleza, 28, according to authorities.
On Oct. 7, a Cedar Hill Country Club worker discovered a dead woman, later identified as Maleza, near the course grounds and informed the police.

An investigation revealed that Calvachi-Paz had strangled Maleza to death in their Newark apartment after she indicated she wanted to break up with him, prosecutors said.
Calvachi-Paz drove around for hours with his dead girlfriend in the car before dumping the body on Walnut Street in Livingston, near the country club, investigators said.

In what prosecutors are calling “an elaborate scheme,” Calvachi-Paz sent text messages from Maleza’s cell phone to make it look like she was still alive, according to officials.
Calvachi-Paz is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree disturbing human remains, and third-degree theft.
