Missing Newark Girl, 14, Found Unharmed: Police (UPDATED)

Police previously reported that the missing teen may have left the state on public transportation. She has since been found.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ -- Police are asking for help finding a missing, 14-year-old girl in Essex County.

Khalani Hamirah Gray, 14, of Newark, was reported missing on Monday, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Gray was last seen at 8:10 a.m. near Chancellor Avenue and Summit Avenue in Newark. She may have left the state on public transportation to meet friends, police said.

Gray is African American, 5 feet 4 inches and 160 pounds. She was wearing a black and white shirt, a pink sweater, black pants, and black and white Nike sneakers. Khalani also has a burgundy box braids hairstyle.

Authorities said anyone with information can call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips can also be made using the Police Division’s website.
