
The Newark Public Schools will be participating in the 2013 Summer Food Service Program beginning July 8 and continuing to Aug. 16. The service will be provided as a component of the district’s summer school and summer enrichment programs.
Breakfast and lunch will be served at summer sites between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for elementary students, and between 7:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. for high school students. Children attending the Summer Youth Development/City Recreation Programs between the hours of 12:30 and 7:00 p.m. will be served food provided by the City of Newark Sun-Up Food Program.
The Summer Food Service Program is a federal program of the Food and Nutrition Services, United States Department of Agriculture. This program provides all children 18 years of age and under with the same free meal in accordance with a menu approved by the state agency regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age.
