Ramos Mayoral Campaign Picks up Key Endorsements

Four-way race for mayor in 2014 heats up

North Ward councilman Anibal Ramos picked up several key endorsements in his campaign for mayor in 2014, the campaign has announced.

Three Democratic Party ward chairs all back Ramos’ campaign against rivals Darrin Sharif, Shavar Jeffries and Ras Baraka. In addition to Fran Adubato -- who represents Ramos’ base, the North Ward -- Ramos also picked up an endorsement from the East Ward chair, Angelo DeFederico.

In a blow to Sharif, Ramos has also been endorsed by the Central Ward chair, Andre Speight, who said “I am happy proud to stand here to give my endorsement and give my life for the next four to five months to make sure every person in the central ward knows about Anibal Ramos.”

Ramos also has the support of fellow council members Carlos Gonzalez and Augusto Amador, who represents the East Ward.

“I am humbled by this great show of organizational and grassroots support,” Ramos said. “We have raised the most money of any campaign, we have the strongest organization and now the support of three of the five wards.”
