Street Closures In Newark Due To Extra Coronavirus Test Sites

Newark will temporarily close some streets to accommodate more free COVID-19 testing sites for residents. See the list here.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark will temporarily close some streets to accommodate more free coronavirus testing sites for local residents.

The closures will begin Thursday and last until Saturday, Dec. 5. Streets closures will begin each day at noon, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Drivers are urged to anticipate delays and to plan alternate routes, authorities said.

The additional testing sites will be provided at the below locations from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Bloomfield Avenue between Mt. Prospect Avenue and Summer Avenue
  • Elizabeth Avenue between Meeker Avenue and Renner Avenue

Friday, December 4

  • Bergen Street between Muhammad Ali Avenue and 18th Avenue
  • Ferry Street between Jefferson Street and Madison Street

Saturday, December 5

  • Jones Street between Springfield Avenue and South Orange Avenue
  • Chestnut Street between Van Buren Street and Pulaski Street
