Thousands Of Entrepreneurs Gather For 'Newark Tech Week' In NJ

The City of Newark concluded another successful Newark Tech Week (NTW) on Oct. 18, marking its eighth year as one of the nation’s few free, community-driven innovation conferences. Powered by EqualSpace, NTW 2025 drew more than 2,000 attendees, celebrating the city’s creative energy and commitment to building a tech ecosystem rooted in equity, representation, and cultural leadership.

The week launched with the Newark Tech Summit at Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hall at Rutgers Newark, headlined by Alphonzo Terrell, co-founder and CEO of Spill, who inspired attendees with insights on culture, inclusivity, and the future of digital communities.

“Newark is proving what it looks like when innovation is driven by people, not platforms,” said Terrell. “This city is setting the standard for equitable growth and creative excellence.”

Throughout the week, NTW featured over a dozen panels, workshops, and cultural activations designed to spark collaboration and connection among founders, investors, technologists, and creatives. Key events included:

  • ●10K Hours: Diversity in Tech – A bold conversation moderated by Tiffany Salas (Chiffani Brands Unlimited), featuring Steve Jones (POCSTOCK), Dr. Keith Perrin Jr. (FUBU Radio), and Emmanuel LaRose (Prime Factors Lab) exploring sustainable innovation and long-term growth.
  • ●Scaling Smarter: Discussing Series A Funding with J.P. Morgan – An exclusive discussion connecting entrepreneurs with J.P. Morgan leaders and founders who successfully raised Series A capital.
  • ●Tapyoca Tuesdays presents EMERGING – A creative showcase highlighting the intersection of music, film, and technology, featuring performances by Buddy Red and Camille K (America’s Got Talent alum).
  • ●AI Adoption Day: The People Side of AI – A hands-on workshop from AI Training Plus, helping small businesses integrate AI tools to improve efficiency and scale sustainably.

Beyond its programming, NTW emphasized Newark’s position as a regional hub for diverse talent and innovation.
