Wave Of Arrests In Newark: Attempted Murder, Robbery, Assault Among Charges

Newark police announced another wave of arrests on Tuesday. Here's what the accused were charged with.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police announced another wave of arrests on Tuesday, including several people accused of robbery, aggravated assault or weapon possession.

“I am grateful for the commitment of the leaders and detectives of our Criminal Intelligence/Fugitive Section, who precisely located and safely apprehended each suspect,” Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said.

“These arrests reflect their hard work and dedication towards keeping Newark safe,” Miranda said.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the following people were recently arrested:

  • Kevyn J. Araujo, 29, was arrested in Middletown, NJ. He faces two counts of aggravated assault, conspiracy, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Kaniyah R. Dolo, 18, of Belleville, was arrested on September 3, 2025. She faces charges of robbery, conspiracy, two counts of criminal mischief, and burglary.
  • Zy-Mirr Wilson, 22, of Newark, was arrested on September 5, 2025. He faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Stacey Davis, 58, of Newark, was arrested on September 11, 2025. He faces four counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and was also wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Elizabeth, NJ.
  • Tarod Andrews, 37, of Newark, was arrested on September 22, 2025. He is charged with robbery and harassment.
  • Daishaun Mercer, 25, of Newark, was arrested on September 23, 2025. He faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Quameen Bultron, 19, of Newark, was taken into custody on September 26, 2025. He faces three counts each of burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief, and theft. He also faces two counts each of auto theft and conspiracy.
  • Tyrone G. Montgomery, 54, of Hillside, was arrested on September 26, 2025. He faces charges of robbery, conspiracy, criminal mischief, two counts of receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Julian Montosa, 38, of Newark, was arrested on September 30, 2025. He is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and theft.
  • Thayna R. Sosa Cepeda, 27, of Kearny, was arrested on September 30, 2025. She faces charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and theft.
  • Travis Kelley, 50, of Paterson, was arrested on October 2, 2025. He faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, terroristic threats, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.
