Active Shooter Drill At Middlesex County Courthouse Thursday

The drill will take place at 12 noon Thursday, and the courthouse will be closed during the drill.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Middlesex County Sheriff will conduct an active shooter drill at the Middlesex County courthouse (56 Paterson Street) in New Brunswick this Thursday, Oct. 24.

The drill will take place at 12 noon Thursday. The public is warned that the courthouse will be closed during the drill, and members of the public will see an increase in police officers — many who may be heavily armed — around the courthouse at that time.

During this time, sheriff’s officers will guide the public and attorneys to the Family Courthouse, located at 120 New Street, New Brunswick, for any urgent legal proceedings. Emergency legal filings will still be able to filed at the Family Courthouse.

Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital will also be present on scene.

"The drill is designed to prepare the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office, judges and judicial employees for potentially dangerous situations that could occur at the courthouse," said the Middlesex County Sheriff.
