George Street Playhouse Artistic Director David Saint has announced that two-time Tony nominee Howard McGillin will return to the Playhouse to play the lead in their production of The 39 Steps, which closes the New Brunswick theatre’s season.
Mr. McGillin was seen at the very beginning of the season in the musical comedy It Shoulda Been You. Mark Shanahan, who was a member of the original Broadway cast of The 39 Steps, will helm the production, which perpetrates its Hitchcockian hijinks upon audiences April 24 through May 20.
“I am so pleased to welcome Howard back to George Street,” said Mr. Saint. “I couldn’t think of a better actor to play this very demanding, very funny role. The show is a hilarious, wild ride, and while it has numerous references to Hitchcock films in it – don’t worry – this fast-paced whodunit will keep you on the edge of your seat with suspense and falling on the floor with laughter.”
