Elijah's Promise Seeks Post-Storm Donations, Offers Meals to Displaced Residents

The soup kitchen needs canned food, winter clothing and coats, baby food and bagged meals.

The Elijah's Promise soup kitchen is back up and running, but still needs donations of canned food, winter clothing and baby food to assist the city homeless and those displaced by Hurricane Sandy.

Non-perishable foods, water, baby food, and bag meals are requested by the soup kitchen, as well as donations of winter clothing, coats, blankets and diapers.

Donations can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the rear entrance of the Elijah's Promise soup kitchen, 18 Neilson St.

The soup kitchen will serve meals from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday to anyone without power or food from Hurricane Sandy.

Clothing is also available to those in need at The Clothesline, 90 Jersey Ave., from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Friday.

The organization's phone lines are currently not working due to a power outage, and anyone wishing to contact Elijah's Promise is asked to email elijahs.promise@yahoo.com or inquire at the soup kitchen.
