Israeli Soldiers Will Speak Near Rutgers Campus Friday

A student group called Students Supporting Israel at Rutgers say they are planning to host several Israeli soldiers near campus.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A student group called Students Supporting Israel at Rutgers (SSI) are planning to host several Israeli soldiers on private property near the New Brunswick campus Friday afternoon.

The student group is calling it the "Triggered IDF Solider Tour," and they say it is open to Rutgers students only, with a valid student ID.

Rutgers University confirmed the event is taking place Friday.

"The Rutgers chapter of Students Supporting Israel, a student organization, is hosting an event on private property near campus," said a university spokeswoman. "Campus safety personnel are aware and will monitor activities to maintain a secure environment, as would be typical."

Another student group called the Rutgers chapter of the Students for a Democratic Society said here they will be holding a protest against the soldiers speaking on campus. The protest will be held at 12 noon Friday on the College Avenue gym lawn.
