Manalapan Man Gets 13 Years for Hit-and-Run of New Brunswick Woman

A Manalapan man has been sentenced to up to 13 years in prison for driving drunk and causing the hit-and-run death of a New Brunswick woman as she walked to church.
According to a report on NJ.com, Brian Clements, 53, of Manalapan was sentenced on Monday to eight years in state prison for striking Silvia Reyes-Ramos on March 30, 2012 as his SUV sped through a crosswalk on Somerset Street at Alexander Street.
Reyes-Ramos, 52, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and pronounced dead the next day. She left behind four children, a nine-year-old son and three adult daughters.

Clements pleaded guilty in December to vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident where the victim died, according to the report.
According to a press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, he was sentenced to eight years in prison for vehicular homicide, and an additional five years for leaving the scene of the accident.

He must serve at least 85 percent of the eight year sentence before becoming eligible for parole, and will be placed on three years probation when he is released, according to the Prosecutor's Office.
