Middlesex County Family Court Hosts Active Shooter Drill Friday
The Middlesex County Sheriff will conduct an active shooter drill at the Middlesex County Family Courthouse (120 New Street) Nov. 1:
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Middlesex County Sheriff will conduct an active shooter drill at the Middlesex County Family Courthouse (120 New Street, New Brunswick) on Friday, November 1.
The drill will commence at 12 noon Friday. People in the area should expect to see a heavy police presence and not be alarmed.
The Family Courthouse will be closed to the public at approximately 12 p.m. while the drill is in progress. This is not an emergency. The drill is designed to prepare the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office, judges and judicial employees for potentially dangerous situations that could occur at the courthouse.

They held a similar drill Oct. 24 at the Middlesex County courthouse.
Under the approval of Superior Court Assignment Judge Michael Toto, Sheriff’s officer Jack Humphrey will supervise the drill's set-up, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols. Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital will be present to assist as needed.

During this time, sheriff’s officers will guide the public and attorneys to the Middlesex County Courthouse, located at 56 Paterson Street, New Brunswick, for any urgent legal proceedings.
