New Brunswick Cultural Center/Arts New Brunswick/Johnson & Johnson Present 5th Annual HUB City Sounds

New Brunswick, NJ (July 6, 2016)—New Brunswick Cultural Center/ Arts New Brunswick, and Johnson& Johnson present the fifth annual Hub City Sounds series, taking place this summer from July 24 through September 18. This FREE family-friendly series includes music, dance, and much more from industry professionals, emerging artists, local theatre companies, and other artists. Locations for this year’s festival include Boyd Park, Joyce Kilmer Park, Crossroads Theatre, State Theatre, and on Livingston Avenue in downtown New Brunswick.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our fifth year of Hub City Sounds in the wonderful city of New Brunswick,” said Tracey O'Reggio Clark, Interim Executive Director of the New Brunswick Cultural Center. “Over the past five years we have presented local artists of the finest caliber, representing cultures from around the world and this year is no exception.”

“coLAB Arts is incredibly happy to be back for its fourth year as a program partner for Hub City Sounds,” added Dan Swern, Producing Director of coLAB. “NBCC never disappoints to demonstrate real ambition with the diversity and scope of its free summer events and coLAB Arts is proud to be consistently represented with challenging and enjoyable performances.”

Festivalgoers are welcome to bring blankets or chairs for lawn seating at park events, and refreshments and retail will be available to purchase. The festival includes collaborations with the city of New Brunswick, State Theatre New Jersey, George Street Playhouse, Crossroads Theatre Company, American Repertory Ballet, New Brunswick City Market, coLAB Arts, New Brunswick Department of Recreation, Esparanza, Middlesex Chamber of Commerce, Civic League of Greater New Brunswick, Rutgers Center for Latino Arts and Culture, Lazos America Unida, Rutgers Collaborative, New Brunswick Jazz Project, Mela Arts Group, Kalyanni, Hub City Jazz Festival and many more. Admission is free of charge for all Hub City Sounds events. Free parking is available for the Boyd Park events, exactly one block away at the Rutgers Public Safety Building, located at 55 Commercial Avenue.

Offering mouthwatering treats and music and theatre performances inspired by the rich tradition and culture of India.

Featuring Caribbean cuisine and music and dance performances including reggae, soca & calypso, to salsa and Cuban drumming.

Punk music and entertainment, featuring Latin Rock and Afro Punk performances and a “Battle of the Bands” contest with High School Rock Bands from New Brunswick, curated by coLAB Arts.

4th Annual Central Jersey Jazz Festival

On Livingston Avenue, between George Street & New Street

Featuring an unparalleled collaboration between three communities in three different counties consisting of the Flemington, New Brunswick, and Somerville. This three day concert is a must-attend festival for jazz and art lovers, creating a true destination event that showcases world renowned performers and visual artists.
