New Brunswick’s Burnet Street Bridge To Reopen Soon
The Burnet Street Bridge was initially slated to reopen in 2022, but the installation of a water connection prompted delays.
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - New Brunswick’s Burnet Street Bridge, which underwent repair work in 2021 and 2022, is expected to reopen on May 1.
Though most of the major repair work is already complete, the county-owned bridge has yet to undergo sandblasting and painting before its reopening next month, New Brunswick officials said in a March 30 statement.
Guide rails are also expected to be installed in April; the approaching roadways to the bridge will be resurfaced in mid-April, the city said.

According to construction documents, roadway construction, milling and paving, concrete curb construction and an ADA-compliant ramp have already been completed.
The bridge was originally slated for completion at the end of 2022, but the reopening was delayed due to the added installation of a new critical water connection that is shared with East Brunswick.
