Panel to Discuss Role of Media Post-Sandy

The free forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 1 Rutgers University.

The role of the citizen journalist in the face of new media is the featured topic of a panel discussion at Rutgers University on April 1.

Hosted by The Citizens Campaign,"New Media in a Post-Sandy World" will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 1 at Rutgers' Alexander Library, 169 College Ave.

The forum will feature a panel of experts discussing how citizens journalists can effectively cover topics pertaining to their communities using social media, blogs and data journalism, according to the Citizens Campaign.

Jeff Jarvis, Director of CUNY's Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism will be the keynote speaker. Panelists include Justin Auciello, founder of Jersey Shore Hurricane News, Michael Lemonick, senior science writer for Climate Central and Colleen O'Dea, Editor-at-Large for NJ Spotlight.

The panel will be moderated by Randall Solomon, co-founder and co-director of Sustainable Jersey.
