Person Hit By Train Near New Brunswick Station, NJ Transit Suspended
The person was hit at 3:05 p.m., when an NJ Transit train struck the pedestrian east of the Jersey Ave. station in New Brunswick:

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — As of 3:30 p.m., service on the Northeast Corridor line is suspended because a person was fatally hit by a train near the New Brunswick station.
The person was hit at approximately 3:05 p.m., when an NJ Transit train struck the pedestrian east of the Jersey Ave. station in New Brunswick, said NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith.
The person who died has not been identified.

Currently, Northeast Corridor rail service is suspended in both directions between Metuchen and Jersey Avenue.
No injuries were reported to the approximately 90 customers on board at the time or the crew. Amtrak police are leading the investigation with assistance from New Jersey Transit police.

The NJ Transit train that hit the person left Penn Station New York at 2:07 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Trenton at 3:44 p.m.
