New Brunswick police officers, fire fighters, city staffers and Mayor James Cahill visited six spots in New Brunswick to meet and chat with residents during National Night Out.
Neighborhoods around New Brunswick were lively on Tuesday night during the 29th annual observance of National Night Out.
National Night Out is an annual celebration meant to bring together police and community for the purposes of bettering the relationships between residents and their local first responders, and to take back their neighborhoods from crime and drugs.
A caravan of New Brunswick police officers, including the department's new Auxiliary Officers, fire fighters, elected officials and city employees traveled around to the six National Night Out celebrations in New Brunswick, where residents barbecued, played games and music, painted children's faces, handed out health and safety information and conducted health screenings.
