Police Wanted: Rutgers PD Seek To Hire New Officers
Rutgers University police are seeking applications for police officers in the New Brunswick, Newark and Camden areas, officials said.
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Rutgers police are seeking applications for police officers in the New Brunswick, Newark and Camden areas, department officials said.
Officers are provided comprehensive training, state-of-the-art equipment, extra duty assignments and may be assigned to specialized units.
Interested applicants can apply here for a $70 nonrefundable fee. A fee waiver program is available for applicants who successfully complete workshops by May 20, 2023. The police officer application will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on May 31, 2023.

Salaries start at $45,888 or $80,150 with prior experience.
Applicants are required to be a New Jersey resident over the age of 21, a U.S. citizen, with a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent and have a valid New Jersey driver’s license. An extensive background check, interview and physical including drug testing, as well as a medical/psychological exam and physical tests, will be conducted.

The Physical Training Assessment (PTA) will consist of:
- 1.5 mile run in 15:55 minutes or less
- 24 pushups in one minute
- 28 sit ups in one minute
- 300 Meter Run in 70.1 seconds or less
- Vertical Jump of at least fifteen (15) inches
