1 Killed On Rt. 1 Wednesday In New Brunswick Area

The crash that severely backed up traffic Wednesday morning on Rt. 1 north through New Brunswick was fatal, with one driver killed:

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Update: This was a fatal crash, with one person killed, the Middlesex County Prosecutor announced at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The crash happened at 7:45 a.m. on Rt. 1 northbound just south of the Goodkind Bridge: An Infiniti struck a Ford pick-up truck, killing the driver of the pick-up.

The identity of the deceased driver is being withheld until their family can be notified.

However, detectives are actively seeking anyone who witnessed this fatal crash, as it occurred right at the height of the morning commute on Rt. 1, a main artery: Anyone with information, photos or video of the accident is asked to call New Brunswick Police Officer Henry Gliottone at 732-745-5005 or Detective Jim Alleva of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-4011.

Rt. 1 north near the Morris Goodkind Bridge is severely backed up due to a traffic accident, said New Brunswick Police as of 8 a.m. Wednesday.

There was a car accident at 8 a.m. just south of the Morris Goodkind Bridge and people are injured, reports 511NJ.org. The left two lanes of Rt. 1 north are closed.

Expect heavy traffic delays on Rt. 1 northbound, said North Brunswick Police.

They are asking drivers to avoid Rt. 1 north for the time being if possible.
