Rutgers Student, 18, Accused Of Recording Women In Dorm Showers

An 18-year-old Rutgers student is accused of using his phone to record multiple young women while they used the showers in Rutgers dorms.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — An 18-year-old Rutgers student is accused of using his cell phone to record multiple young women while they used the showers in Rutgers dorms.

This was announced Wednesday evening by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop.

The young man is Michael Williams, 18, of Philadelphia, PA. He is charged with three counts of third-degree invasion of privacy and one count of fourth-degree evidence tampering.

The prosecutor said he did this between Oct. 2 - Oct. 25 on the Rutgers campus in New Brunswick.

Rutgers Police first received a call on Oct. 2 reporting that a female student had been recorded while in the bathroom. Rutgers Police then started receiving reports of similar incidents occurring in nearby dorms.

An investigation led by Rutgers Police Sergeant Robert Calvert and Middlesex County Prosecutor's Detective Haley Hlavka allege Williams used his personal cellphone to record multiple victims while they used the shower.

Williams was arrested and charged Oct. 25.
