School Board Approves $195 Million Budget

Voters will decide the fate of the school budget on April 16.

The New Brunswick Board of Education approved a $195 million school budget last week that will now go to the polls in April as the first school budget to be voted on in New Brunswick.

The $195,055,006 budget will be supported by a $27,326,591 tax levy.

The tax rate for the school budget is $2.2791, meaning an average assessed house in New Brunswick that costs $118,000 will see their taxes increase $19.28 for the year, for a total of $2,689.34 in school taxes.

The budget is about $3.8 million less than the 2012-13 school budget, according to the district.

The budget will be put to a vote on April 16, along with six school board candidates vying for three seats. For more information on the school budget, click here.
