Stray Bullet Hits Woman Inside Her Home Near Rutgers Campus
A woman was struck by a stray bullet while inside her home at 2 a.m. Friday in the area of Easton Avenue and Hamilton Street:
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A woman affiliated with Rutgers was hit by a stray bullet late Thursday night while inside her own home, said campus police.
The shooting happened at 2:03 a.m. Friday in the area of Easton Avenue and Hamilton Street. Rutgers Police responded to multiple reports of several gunshots fired in the area.
A woman was hit by one of the stray gunshots while inside her home, said police. A second victim was also hit by the gunfire; police found him later at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

All Rutgers Police will say is that both victims are affiliated with Rutgers University, meaning they could be students, professors or faculty. Police did not specify.
As of Friday, both victims are being treated for their gunshot wounds at RWJUH.

Rutgers University is declining to answer any more questions about this incident. The school did say they are adding more Rutgers Police to the area of Easton Avenue/Hamilton Street:
"The university has been in touch with the victims and their families, offering support and assistance during this time. The safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority," said a Rutgers spokeswoman. "The Rutgers University Police Department, in collaboration with the New Brunswick Police, will be increasing police presence in the area of the incident."
The description of the perpetrator(s) is limited at this time.
The New Brunswick Police Department asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact their Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
