Obesity Prevention in New Jersey The State of the State: Important Next Steps, Hilton East Brunswick Hotel & Executive Meeting Center, 3 Tower Center Blvd., East Brunswick. This is a one-day conference that addresses obesity rates in New Jersey and collaborative solutions to address this public health problem. The day begins at 9 a.m. Admission is $45.

Wednesday

Comprehensive Services on Aging Art Show and Food Drive, 671 Hoes Lane W. Piscataway

Comprehensive Services on Aging will host an art show featuring works created by Alzheimer's patients. Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to the food drive. Admission is free and open to the public. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Weight Loss Seminar, Saint Peter's University Hospital, 254 Easton Ave.

On the second Thursday of each month, Saint Peter's University Hospital hosts a free seminar to discuss weight loss surgeries performed at the hospital. The seminar is free and open to the public, and begins at 7 p.m. To register, call (732) 745-8600 ext. 8159.

Friday

Holiday Market, George Street Playhouse, 9 Livingston Ave.

From 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the New Brunswick Community Arts Council will host its first ever holiday market at the George Street Playhouse, featuring crafts and items from a number of tri-state area merchants. Singing groups will perform holiday songs, and free hot chocolate and hot cider will be handed out. Admission is free.
