National Night Out is an annual anti-crime event attended by both police and community residents in municipalities around the country. New Brunswick holds events all over the city, but one of the largest gatherings will take place at 5 p.m. at Feaster Park, hosted by Sacred Heart Church. The block party-style event will feature food, music and community awareness.

Wednesday

This charity event will benefit Gentle Giants Rescue & Sanctuary in Wayne. Haircuts will be given for a suggested donation of $20. The public is also invited to bring their dogs to the hair salon for baths, also given for a suggested donation of $20. Proceeds will benefit the Wayne shelter. 

Thursday

, 178 Jones Ave.

This twice-weekly farmers market will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, and feature fresh produce, crafts and health information. SNAP and WIC are accepted. The market is also held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Friday

, , 55 Paterson St.

Beginning at 7 p.m., proceeds from this bar crawl will benefit the 2012 Central Walk for a Brighter Tomorrow and the 2013 National Walk for Epilepsy. Tickets are $5.
