2 New Milford Men Arrested In Fugitive Sweep: Sheriff
1 of the men was arrested for failing to appear in court on an aggravated sexual assault charge, police said.
NEW MILFORD, NJ — Two New Milford men were arrested by the Bergen County Fugitive Task Force on outstanding warrants for failing to appear in Bergen County Superior Court.
The task force arrested Michael Urgiles and John Cavas Thursday, Sept. 26, said Sheriff Anthony Cureton. The arrests were part of a coordinated effort by the task force that arrested seven people.
Urgiles, 21, was originally charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault. Cavas, 39, was originally charged with second-degree eluding in a motor vehicle, Cureton said.

Fourteen law enforcement agencies participated in the operation. The seven people arrested were taken to the Bergen County Jail pending court appearances.
"I would like to thank to the Bergen County Sheriff's Office personnel and all the participating departments who helped make our third operation a success," Cureton said in a statement. "Out of all the attempts, multiple arrests were made and new leads were gathered that will significantly help the task force the next time it convenes."

Cureton and the Bergen County Chiefs Association launched the task force in June. Its purpose is not only to find fugitives from justice, but to develop intelligence regarding people who are evading appearing in criminal Superior Court.
