3 Fraud Reports, Arrests: New Milford Police Blotter

NEW MILFORD, NJ — The New Milford Police Department received three fraud reports over the last two weeks, according to police.

Here's the full police blotter from the past few days:

On July 7: Around 9:51 a.m., a New York resident reported that she was assaulted at a party in New Milford. The person was given a civilian complaint packet to pursue charges.

On July 7: Around 4 p.m., a Boulevard resident reported that someone damaged his company’s tools. The person was given a civilian complaint packet to complete and return to pursue charges.

On July 9: At around 12:51 a.m., an officer arrested a 32-year-old man from Camden for possession of hypodermic needles, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, and maintenance of lamps, following a traffic stop. The man was released on a summons with a date in New Milford Municipal Court.

On July 9: Around 9:13 a.m., a Milford Avenue resident reported that his bicycle was stolen from outside of his house. Information was turned over to the detective bureau.

On July 9: Around 4:24 p.m., a Prospect Avenue resident reported that someone used her bank account without her knowing. Information was turned over to the detective bureau.

On July 10: Around 1:35 a.m., an officer arrested a 56-year-old man from Englewood for driving while under the influence, reckless driving, and careless driving, following a traffic stop. The man was released on summonses to a responsible party with a return court date in New Milford.

On July 12: Around 10:14 a.m., a Berkley Street resident reported that someone has been putting an unknown substance on his car door handle. Information was turned over to the detective bureau.

On July 12: Around 7:17 p.m., a River Road resident reported that someone made multiple fraudulent transactions on her bank account. The person closed their current account and opened a new one. Information was turned over to the detective bureau.

On July 12: Around 11:20 p.m., a Henley Avenue resident reported his bathroom was flooded and numerous water pipes were exposed. The resident believed that this damage was done intentionally. The incident was documented.

On July 16: Around 9:09 a.m., an officer arrested a 19-year-old man from New Milford for theft following an investigation into a stolen bike that was reported a few days earlier. The person was released on a summons with a return court date in CJP Court. The bicycle was recovered.

On July 16: Around 12:50 p.m., a River Road resident reported that someone attempted to file for unemployment in his name. The resident contacted New Jersey Office of Unemployment and said that the claim was fraudulent.

On July 17: Around noon, an officer arrested a 21-year-old woman from Dumont for having two outstanding warrants from Ridgefield Park, following a traffic stop. The woman was released on her own recognizance and was told to contact Ridgefield Park to set up a new court date.

On July 18: Around 1:37 a.m., officers were dispatched to a New Milford bar on a report of a dispute. Officers learned that a patron was intoxicated and was fighting with the bar’s staff. The woman was too intoxicated and had no one to take control of her. She was transported to Englewood Hospital.
