5 Things to Do In (and Near) New Milford This Weekend

Only one more week before Christmas (gulp), but if the mall is the last place you want to be this weekend shop local and check out these events:

• When: Sat. 1pm-4pm
• Where: Downtown Ridgewood on Ridgewood Ave.
• Why: The Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra will be playing in the park, there will be hot chocolate and other goodies, picture-taking with elves, ice sculptures provided by Jimmy's Artistic Creations and, best of all, a horse-drawn carriage that makes its way from Van Neste Square to Broad Street.
• Cost: Free admission 

• What: Family Craft Day at Tenafly Nature Center
  
• When: Sat. 1pm-3pm
• Where: Tenafly Nature Center, 313 Hudson Ave., Tenafly
• Why: Create seasonal holiday items with a warm cup of apple cider. Make wrapping paper, decorations and gifts using imagination and a little ingenuity.
• Cost: Per/person: Members $10/Non-members $15

• What: BCHS 28th Annual Colonial Christmas Concerts & Tavern Fare
  
• When: Sat. 7pm and 8:30pm; Sun. 6pm and 7:30pm
• Where: Steuben House, New Bridge Landing, River Edge
• Why: Colonial Christmas with light tavern fare!

• What: Santa Visits Van Saun Zoo
  
• When: Sun. 12pm-3:30pm
• Where: Van Saun Park Zoo, Forest Ave, Paramus
• Why: It's Santa on a train!
• Cost: Free, but $5 for photos with Santa

• What: CLAWS Holiday Adoption Event
• When: Sun. 1pm-4pm
• Where: New Milford VFW, 267 Madison Ave., New Milford
• Why: CLAWS, the Closter Animal Welfare Society, will host a huge holiday cat and kitten adoption.
