A Week Filled with Independence Day Celebrations

Celebrate the 237th anniversary of American independence with music, parades and fireworks.

The Fourth of July is the holiday that kicks summer into high gear with all of the backyard barbecues, parades and fireworks celebrating America's independence from Great Britain.

After your backyard barbecue, here's where you can take the family to celebrate this year's 237th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence:

River Edge kicks off the Fourth of July with "Music in the Park" on Wednesday, July 3 at 6:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs, picnic baskets and kids to Memorial Park off Continental Ave. and enjoy the music of Jeanie Marri and Soul Finger. This event is sponsored by Costa Engineering.

The town will host a parade on Thursday, July 4 at 11 a.m. The parade will begin at Cherry Hill School and end at Memorial Park.

The parade will be followed by an afternoon of festivities at Memorial Park where there will be rides for the kids, beer and food, music and vendors.

Oradell will kick off its Independence Day celebrations with a parade Thursday, July 4 at 9 am. This annual parade hosted by the Special Events Committee will start on Oradell Avenue and end at Memorial Field on Prospect Avenue where there will be ceremonies commemorating America's independence, followed by games, music and refreshments.

Oradell will also host a fireworks display on Friday, July 5 at Memorial Field commemorating American Independence and the 100th Anniversary of the Oradell Library. Fireworks will begin at dusk. The rain date is Saturday, July 6.

If you want to take a trip back in time, the Fort Lee Historic Park will be celebrating Independence Day with cannon firing, musket demonstrations, colonial games, music, and more from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Free admission, $5 parking. The Fort Lee Historic Park is located on Hudson Terrace in Fort Lee.
