Elm Street Bridge Repairs Remain Stalled, Field Lights Installed, This Week in Local News

No Completion in Sight for Elm Street Bridge

According to the Oradell Borough Engineer, the repair project on the Elm Street Bridge has been 'significantly delayed' because the contractor has halted work and has been unresponsive to county engineers. The three ton bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic since 2008. In 2011 it was included on a list of structurally deficient bridges.


New Milford Installing Field Lighting, Lightning Detection Coming Soon

The new lighting system is in the process of being installed in the fields behind Borough Hall. Borough officials said that $125,000 of funding for this project will come through grants. The lightning detection system will be installed in the borough and Board of Ed fields shortly. The cost of implementing this system is being shared with the Borough of River Edge, as well as the Boards of Education of both River Edge and New Milford. 

Holy Name Honors Retired New Milford Officer with Patriot Award

Chuck Gerity, a retired Captain in the New Milford Police Dpt, was honored for his commitment to supporting Holy Name Hospital employees who serve in the military.

The award is given to a supervisor or manager who demonstrates understanding by providing time-off before and after deployment and lends support to the families of those serving.

Patch Helps Meals on Wheels, Shines Light on a Good Cause

Patch volunteered to help Jeanne Martin, Director of Meals on Wheels Pascack Valley, deliver food to people who are homebound with an illness. With 400 volunteers, Meals on Wheels is always looking for more people to help them deliver food.
