Lady Knights Fall to Lady Lancers in Tournament Finals

There is no doubt about it. Both teams were in it to win it, but Lakeland girls varsity team defeated New Milford 40-28.

New Milford came onto the court strong with Victoria Astillero scoring a three-pointer to put the Lady Knights on the board, and most of the first half had both teams going basket for basket with each other. Samone DeFreese was the high scorer with 17 points and, along with Carly Lasko and Erin Bigger, fought hard under the boards to gain possession of the ball for New Milford.

Lakeland came back after the half strong and determined to use a solid defensive block, and height advantage, to keep New Milford from getting close to the basket. Despite a tough fight by the Lady Knights, Lakeland took the game.
