Letter: Safety First - No United Water Development
The proposed development of United Water property will increase traffic in the school zones.

To The Editor:
I recently read that the mayor of Cresskill and other local officials were prompted to study traffic patterns near the Edward H Bryan School due to an increase in traffic and accidents (one in which a crossing guard was badly injured). It must be nice to live in a town where the leadership is looking out for the welfare of its residents. That is not the case in New Milford.
The consideration to rezone the property owned by United Water to accommodate a large supermarket and a 221-unit housing complex next to the high school will surely put our students at risk! The supermarket will draw a tremendous amount of traffic on to the school zone, and the students of St. Joseph's will also be at risk, as shoppers will surely use Elm Street as a cut through when the bridge is reopened.

I urge all parents of children who will attend New Milford High School and/or St. Joseph's to stand up against this massive development and let the mayor and council know that we expect leadership that puts safety first.
Sincerely,
