The Mike Pevny Benefit Classic tips off Friday night at . The girls J.V., girls varsity and boys varsity basketball teams will be playing in honor of the late NMHS teacher, Mike Pevny, who died suddenly after a short illness in 2004 at the age of 34, leaving behind a wife and two young children.
Pevny taught gym and health and coached several teams including wrestling, golf, volleyball and softball.
This year the theme for the benefit classic is "Green." Everyone is asked to wear green to the tournament. The basketball teams usually wear white uniforms for home games, but in honor of Pevny they will be wearing their green uniforms.
